A One Read Art Exhibit
Submission dates: September 22-24

As part of the 2011 One Read program, we invite Callaway and Boone County artists ages 16 and older to contribute works inspired by the mysteries of the human body, the strange beauty of a cell viewed through a microscope or other intersections of art and science.

Submissions will be accepted at the Columbia Public Library (100 West Broadway), Thursday, September 22 through Saturday, September 24. Submitted works will be on display September 26 – October 14. Artists may enter one original work in any medium. Pieces should be ready for display (with secure hanging wire if applicable). The first place winner will receive a Columbia Art League membership courtesy of CAL and $100. The second and third place winners will receive $50 each. All cash awards are generously provided by the City of Columbia Office of Cultural Affairs. Artists receiving honorable mentions will win pairs of free movie passes courtesy of Ragtag Cinema.

Questions about: “The Art of Science” Call for Entries
    Is this a juried show?
    Is there an entry fee?
Do pieces have to be framed?
Are you accepting 3 dimensional pieces? And are there any parameters for the 3-d pieces?
Are there any age requirements, ie may a child enter?

    Great idea, thank you!

Thank you for your questions! I’ll answer them in order.

    1. We plan on displaying all entries received, and winners will be selected by local artist George Tutt.
    2. There is no fee for entries.
    3. Pieces should be ready for display with secure hanging wire, if applicable.
    4. We are accepting works in all media, including 3-dimensional pieces. We just ask that they be display ready (sturdy and secure on a base, if applicable).
    5. Because this is an adult reading program, and some of the One Read titles chosen have adult themes or situations, we are limiting participation to those 16 years of age or older.
    6. We appreciate your interest in One Read!
